Isaiah 64:8 (NKJV): But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
WE are fearfully and wonderfully made—born of God and birthed in Him before we were knit in our mother’s womb. We were born for a purpose, destined to live lives extraordinary—for God’s honor and His glory, that all should know Who He is and who we are in Him. He knew us before we were, before we drew first breath, took first step, or spoke our first word; He thought of us before we could think for ourselves, before we knew the difference between good and bad, right and wrong.
We are made in God's image, according to His likeness, and we are formed by His hands and sustained on the air of His breath, through the gift of His grace and mercy. His Son Jesus is our Savior, our Redeemer, our Deliverer, our Healer, our Lord, and our King; His Spirit is our Comforter, our Teacher, our Intercessor, our Gift-giver, and our Truth-bearer; and He is our Father, our Master, our Protector, our Provider, our Ruler, and our Creator, and He loves us, His creation, yet in Isaiah 29:16, we read, “You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘You did not make me’? Can the pot say to the potter, ‘You know nothing’?”
In this day it isn’t unusual for some of us to challenge God or quarrel with Him, blaming Him for our flaws, our sins, our wayward ways, our misfortunes and our brokenness, nor is it unusual for us to become so distracted by and ensnared by the world that we forget that through God, we have Jesus, and in Him we have love unconditional, forgiveness of sin, redemption, healing, and life eternal. Even when we dare to box with God and question His wisdom though, God sees beyond our vanity, our insecurities, our fears, our masks, and our deception—beyond the make-up and cosmetics--the perfume, cologne, jewelry, wigs, fake hair, stylish clothes, gleaming eyes, and plastered smiles—straight into our hearts, even to our spirits, and He sees His creation, His sons and daughters covered by the Blood of Jesus and cleansed of all unrighteousness—made whole, with nothing lost and nothing broken. He sees what our eyes can’t see, the beauty and best of Jesus Christ living within us.
To Him--GOD--we aren’t damaged goods, nor are we anyone else’s but His, bought at an awesome price. We are God’s prized possessions, His personal property. We're His creations, His sons and daughters, His royal heirs--princes and princesses. And God's Only Begotten Son Jesus, who is the Christ, the Anointed One, willingly died for us, so we should be courageous enough to trust Him, render unto God that which is already His, and LIVE for Him.
