For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. - Hebrews 4:12

Genesis 2:18-25: The LORD GOD said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the LORD GOD made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man."

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh. Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.

GOD LOVES US, and He is the greatest Matchmaker on earth and in heaven, and this is one truth found in the pages and narratives of our Bible but not readily found on television or in today's cards, fairy tales, movies, and books: Soul mates are not born; they are made.Neither do they arrive as Prince or Princess Perfect or miraculously appear as Mr. and Mrs. Right. Basically, as one minister says, in a "great" marriage, soul mates are no more than two imperfect people (equal but different) who roll up their sleeves and work together daily on their relationship, end up as best friends, and in the trenches of life become soul mates.

And this is the heart of the matter: GOD knows the plans He has for us, plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future, and when we trust Him with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding but acknowledge Him and let Him direct our paths, then our "soul" mate will be our "help-meet"--a blessing, not a curse--and when we are led of His Spirit and live according to His Word, will, and purpose, then our relationship and intimacy with this mate will bring GOD honor and glory and bring us no sin or shame.

In matters of the heart, better and more successful than any matchmaking mother, website, service, friend, or Cupid, is the Supreme Matchmaker, our heavenly Father, GOD.
